On 13 July, Diaverum Estoril took part in the “Healthy Summer” event, at the invitation of Cascais City Council, as part of an initiative dedicated to promoting health and well-being within the community.
From 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, a six-member Diaverum team was present at a stand dedicated to raising awareness of kidney health, sharing the space with several partners from different areas of intervention.
Throughout the afternoon, around 70 people visited the Diaverum stand, where they had the opportunity to test their knowledge through the various quizzes available while learning more about chronic kidney disease, its risk factors, and the importance of prevention and early diagnosis.
Taking advantage of the high number of people visiting the beach during the summer, the team also introduced the kidney.com platform, an information and awareness tool focused on kidney health. The platform generated considerable interest and received a very positive response from people in Cascais and the surrounding areas.

According to Dr Jesus Garrido, Clinical Director at Diaverum Estoril:
“The aim of this event was to bring healthcare closer to the community, encouraging the adoption of healthy lifestyles through prevention, screening and health literacy activities. We sought to raise awareness among participants about the importance of kidney health and to promote the kidney.com platform, a tool providing accessible and reliable information about kidney disease. We believe that improving health literacy is one of the most effective ways to prevent disease and empower people to make informed decisions about their health. We would like to thank Cascais City Council for the opportunity to be part of this initiative and to promote kidney health in our community.”
Anabela Reis, Head Nurse at the unit, also highlighted the importance of the initiative:
“Taking part in Healthy Summer 2026 was a very enriching experience. I believe that prevention and health education are fundamental pillars of nursing care, and initiatives like this allow us to truly connect with the community. It was very rewarding to speak with so many people, answer their questions and raise awareness of the importance of kidney health. Very often, a simple conversation is enough to draw attention to behaviours that can make a difference in disease prevention.”
For Diaverum, it is a source of great pride to be increasingly close to the communities where we are present, actively contributing to improving health literacy and raising awareness of the importance of kidney health.
Initiatives such as “Healthy Summer” reinforce our commitment to going beyond the provision of care, taking prevention and information beyond our clinics and promoting greater awareness of chronic kidney disease among the wider population.
