Diaverum Portugal is entering a new chapter with a change in the organisation’s leadership. As of 14 September 2026, Sofia Correia de Barros will step down from her role as Country Manager, with Dr. Rui Filipe, currently National Medical Director of Diaverum Portugal, taking over.
Throughout her time at Diaverum, Sofia Correia de Barros played an important role in leading the organisation in Portugal, contributing to its growth, development and consolidation. Her commitment and dedication were instrumental in supporting the continued evolution of Diaverum and its teams over recent years.
Diaverum Portugal sincerely thanks Sofia for her contribution, leadership and dedication throughout her time with the organisation, and wishes her every success in the next chapter of her professional journey.
Dr. Rui Filipe takes over the leadership of Diaverum Portugal
With immediate effect, Dr. Rui Filipe assumes the role of Country Manager Director of Diaverum Portugal, while continuing to fulfil the responsibilities of National Medical Director on an interim basis until a successor is appointed.
A nephrologist by training, Dr. Rui Filipe has more than 20 years of clinical and leadership experience in healthcare, having built his career across both the public and private sectors. Throughout his career, he has held a range of senior clinical, management, coordination and leadership positions, building extensive experience in renal care.
He joined Diaverum in 2025, initially taking on the role of National Medical Director. His in-depth knowledge of the organisation, its teams and its operations in Portugal, combined with his clinical and leadership experience, provides a strong foundation for this new responsibility.
His appointment to lead Diaverum Portugal marks a new chapter, built on knowledge, experience and a strong connection to the clinical reality and to the teams who bring the organisation’s mission to life every day.
