The participation of members from the M42 Corporate Medical Office and Diaverum Portugal in the 39th edition of the Renal Meeting 2025, held at the Estoril Congress Center, reaffirmed the joint commitment to scientific innovation, digital transformation in healthcare, and the continuous improvement of care provided to renal patients.
Symposium: “CKD in the Era of Precision Medicine: Translating Science into Patient Care”
This symposium brought together national and international experts to discuss the growing impact of precision medicine in modern nephrology, highlighting the role of science, clinical data and technology in personalising renal care.
Dr. Fernando Macário, Chief Medical Officer of M42, emphasised:
“Participating in the symposium ‘CKD in the Era of Precision Medicine: Translating Science into Patient Care’ was an opportunity to reinforce the importance of integrating science, clinical data and technological innovation into nephrology practice. The joint discussion highlighted how precision medicine is transforming the diagnosis and care of renal patients. It was a privilege to collaborate with Dr. Rui Filipe, Dr. Carla Santos, Prof. Luísa Lobato and Prof. Vidya. I also thank Diaverum Portugal and its General Manager, Sofia Correia de Barros, for continuing to promote scientific innovation and clinical development in the country.”
The symposium was moderated by Dr. Rui Filipe, National Medical Director of Diaverum Portugal, who added:
“It was a privilege to moderate the joint symposium organised by Diaverum and M42, ‘CKD in the Era of Precision Medicine: Translating Science into Patient Care’, and to participate in a panel that included Dr. Fernando Macário, Prof. Vidya Velagadupi, Prof. Carla Santos, Prof. Luísa Lobato and Dr. Eliana Silva.
As leading figures in precision medicine, they highlighted the importance of tools that are already transforming clinical practice in our daily work and outlined the path ahead.

Nursing and Nutrition with a strong scientific presence
In addition to the symposium, Diaverum Portugal presented a significant set of scientific contributions in the fields of nursing and nutrition, strengthening the clinical excellence of its teams.
Mónica Silva, National Nursing Director of Diaverum Portugal, noted:
“Diaverum Portugal’s participation in the 39th edition of the Renal Meeting reflected our teams’ ongoing commitment to acquiring knowledge on excellence in renal care. In an environment of knowledge-sharing with a focus on innovation, the Nursing teams had the opportunity to present 18 works and were recognised with four awards.”
The Nutrition area was also represented by Dr. Vítor Martins, Coordinator of the Nutrition Service at Diaverum Portugal, who presented the study:
“Intradialytic nutritional intake and adherence perspective of a national and continuous meal model in a large hemodialysis patient cohort.”

The Renal Meeting 2025 was also the stage for several important recognitions:

• One award was presented to Eliana Silva, from the M42 Corporate Medical Office.
