We are delighted to announce the launch of RenalLab by d.ACADEMY, an international immersive learning experience designed for nephrologists and nurses with solid clinical experience and the ambition to become future clinical leaders at Diaverum.
RenalLab represents the next chapter of the K-Camp programme, successfully launched last year with the aim of promoting clinical excellence in the areas of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (PoCUS) and vascular access. While the name has changed, the purpose remains the same: investing in our people through high-quality learning opportunities that strengthen clinical knowledge and contribute to improving the care we provide to our patients.
More than a traditional course, RenalLab aims to create a collaborative community of passionate professionals committed to improving patient outcomes and shaping the future of renal care. Participants will have the opportunity to share experiences with colleagues from different countries, build valuable professional networks and gain new perspectives that they can apply to their daily clinical practice.
This year’s edition will focus on peritoneal dialysis (PD), giving participants the opportunity to deepen their clinical knowledge, explore best practices, discuss real-life clinical cases and exchange experiences with colleagues and leading experts in the field. Through interactive sessions, practical workshops and multidisciplinary discussions, RenalLab will help strengthen both clinical skills and professional networks. At the same time, it will support our ambition to expand knowledge and confidence in home-based renal care, enabling more patients to benefit from personalised treatment options.
We are particularly excited that the 2026 edition is being developed in partnership with Hospital de Santo António and the University of Porto, one of Portugal’s leading centres in nephrology and renal replacement therapies. This collaboration will further enrich the programme by bringing valuable academic and clinical perspectives, as well as direct exposure to advanced practices in peritoneal dialysis.
The programme faculty includes nephrologists, surgeons and nurses from Hospital de Santo António, as well as experts from the Diaverum and M42 medical teams. RenalLab will take place from 14 to 18 September 2026 as a residential programme at Hospital de Santo António and ICBAS in Porto.
Participants were selected from countries within our network that already offer peritoneal dialysis programmes or have significant potential to develop them in the near future. With 13 colleagues from Brazil, France, Germany, Hungary, Morocco, Poland, Romania, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Uruguay, RenalLab provides a truly international environment for knowledge sharing, exchange of experiences and strengthening our global clinical community at Diaverum.
Scientific programme
The scientific programme is structured around four key dimensions: clinical, practical, research, and artificial intelligence (AI) and data.
Day 1: Porto Peritoneal Dialysis Model: unit, patient journey and Diaverum clinical standards.
Day 2: Clinical excellence: peritonitis, preservation of the peritoneal membrane and volume control.
Day 3: Practical sessions: access masterclass, patient training lab and home visits.
Day 4: Research and Artificial Intelligence: predictive analysis, research portfolio and project incubator.
Day 5: Synthesis and consolidation: 90-day action plans and certificate presentation.
