On 9 February, Diaverum Portugal opened its new Almada Unit, reinforcing its commitment to proximity, quality, and excellence in the delivery of care to people living with chronic kidney disease.
Located at Rua Alda Nogueira, no. 13–15, Feijó, 2810-402 Almada, the new unit has a maximum capacity of 246 haemodialysis patients and was designed to meet the needs of patients in the region. It combines modern facilities, appropriate technology, and a highly qualified multidisciplinary team focused on the person and their well-being.
The opening of the Almada Unit represents another step in Diaverum’s mission to ensure accessible, safe, and humanised care, always placing the patient at the centre of everything we do. The unit is staffed by experienced and dedicated professionals, prepared to deliver personalised care in a welcoming environment aligned with the highest clinical and care standards.
According to the Clinical Director, Dr João Paulo Travassos:
“The move to new facilities represents a significant milestone in Diaverum’s clinical development journey. As Clinical Director, I view this transition with particular personal and collective satisfaction.
It is a space that enhances multidisciplinary work, values our teams, and strengthens our ability to respond to the current and future needs of our patients.
This new phase reaffirms Diaverum’s mission to provide excellence in nephrology care, placing innovation, safety, and humanisation at the heart of clinical practice, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life of the people we care for.”
Head Nurse João Encarnação adds:
“More than a physical change of space, this transition symbolises a step forward in Diaverum’s ongoing commitment to quality, safety, and person-centred care.
This new phase reinforces Diaverum’s ambition to continue being a reference in haemodialysis, always placing the person at the centre of care and creating environments that enable teams to do better, with greater quality and a more positive impact on patients’ lives.”
With this new opening, Diaverum further strengthens its presence in the South Bank of the Tagus, contributing to improved access to renal healthcare and continuity of proximity-based care, grounded in a culture of True Care.
