As part of the d.Holiday Programme, Diaverum Portugal is organising Mobility Week across its clinics, an initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of mobility and the possibility of travelling safely while undergoing haemodialysis treatment.
The initiative will take place throughout the month of March, having started this week in some clinics in the Central and Northern regions of the country, with organisation and strong support from the Social Work, Nursing, Administrative teams and other clinic professionals.

During these weeks, Diaverum teams will promote moments of sharing and clarification aimed at patients, families and healthcare professionals, with the goal of reinforcing the information available regarding mobility and travel options for people on dialysis.
According to Marta Olim, Coordinator of the d.Holiday Programme Portugal, “with this initiative, Diaverum aims to promote clear and accessible information based on the experience of clinical teams. It is also essential that teams are aware and involved, so they can convey to patients and their families the safety and confidence needed to travel and consider new mobility possibilities.”
Mobility and Holiday Week therefore stands out as an inclusive initiative, seeking to align teams, patients and families around the same information, supporting safer and more informed decision-making.

For many patients, mobility may represent the possibility of maintaining an active life, travelling, participating in important moments with family and friends, or simply returning to their hometown. However, doubts or concerns sometimes remain regarding the organisation of treatment outside their usual clinic.
By giving visibility to this topic and aligning information among patients, families and professionals, Mobility Week aims to contribute to greater autonomy for people undergoing treatment, reinforcing the message that it is possible to combine haemodialysis with important moments in life, including travel and mobility.
