“Vamos Viajar Juntos” (“Let’s Travel Together”) was born from a simple, yet deeply meaningful idea: to show that chronic kidney disease should never prevent anyone from continuing to live, travel, create memories and feel part of the world.

This holiday programme, whose 2026 edition will take place from 24 to 31 May in Amarante, is much more than an organised trip. It is a space for connection, sharing, friendship and hope — not only for people undergoing dialysis, but also for their families and caregivers.

Over the course of a week, participants will discover some of the most beautiful and emblematic places in Amarante, through an initiative developed in partnership with APIR and the Municipality of Amarante, which has carefully prepared visits and special moments in this poetic and welcoming city. The itinerary also includes visits to Penafiel, Marco de Canaveses, Régua and other locations rich in history, culture and tradition.

But what truly makes this programme special are the people.

The conversations during the journeys. The friendships created around the table. The smile of someone travelling again after believing they never could. The sense of belonging felt by those who realise they are not alone.

“Vamos Viajar Juntos” also has a very important mission in combating social isolation. It brings together people from different parts of the country, creates support networks and restores confidence and motivation to those who often live limited by the demands of illness and treatment.

This is an inclusive programme, open to people receiving dialysis from different healthcare providers, and not exclusively from Diaverum. Because we believe that caring also means uniting, integrating and creating opportunities for everyone. Here, no one is left behind.

At the clinic, all participants will be welcomed with open arms by a team prepared to receive each person with closeness, care and safety. A very special welcome ceremony is also being prepared, so that everyone feels genuinely expected and warmly welcomed from the very first moment.

More than just a holiday, “Vamos Viajar Juntos” is a life-changing experience. A week where people discover places, but above all rediscover joy, confidence and the desire to continue living life to the fullest.
