On 22 March, at Diaverum Portugal, we had the opportunity to experience a truly special and long-awaited moment: the official inauguration of the new facilities of the Almada Unit. This ceremony celebrated a journey built on dedication, closeness and commitment.

More than a new space — more modern, larger and more harmonious — this is a milestone that symbolises our ongoing commitment to life, dignity and the quality of care we provide every day to all those who place their trust in us.

With a significant increase in installed capacity, we are now able to care for more than 215 people living with chronic kidney disease undergoing haemodialysis treatment, offering improved conditions, greater comfort and an even safer environment, carefully designed to meet the needs of our patients and professionals.

This day was also a tribute to our teams. Professionals who, through dedication, expertise and humanity, bring to life the true meaning of care. A special recognition goes to Dr João Paulo Travassos (Clinical Director) and Nurse João Encarnação (Head Nurse), whose commitment, dedication and strong leadership were instrumental in making this project a reality. This recognition is extended to all the professionals from the unit who were present — our sincere thank you to all!

We were honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests, namely Dr Paulo Urbano, President of APIR, Dr António Barros Neves, Secretary-General of ANADIAL, and Dr Daniel Silva, President of the Feijó Parish Council, accompanied by Dr Beatriz Morais, among others.

Also present were Diaverum’s CEO, Rafael Romanini, as well as members of the Diaverum Portugal leadership team, Clinical Directors and Head Nurses from other units, and some of our patients from the unit together with their family members, whose presence gave this moment an even deeper and more human significance.

A very special thank you to Pedro Jesus for generously sharing with us his passion for the saxophone, which created a unique and special atmosphere for this celebration.

At Diaverum, “True Care” is lived every day and is also reflected in the continuous investment in infrastructure improvement, innovation and the clinical excellence with which we care for every person.

Because caring is, above all, about being present. Always.
