Dr Rui Filipe is a seasoned nephrologist with over 20 years of clinical and leadership experience, across both public and private institutions. At ULS Castelo Branco - a local health unit in Portugal that integrates hospital and primary care services under the National Health Service - he held several senior roles, including Director of Medical Internship, Organ Procurement Coordinator, Deputy Clinical Director and Nephrologist, culminating in his most recent position as Senior Graduate Assistant. He also served as Coordinating Nephrologist and later Clinical Director at NephroCare’s Guarda Unit. Dr Rui Filipe was also Head of Clinical Management at Nefropinhal for five years, where he played an integral role in clinical management and the coordination of care for chronic diseases in the Sertã region. Dr Rui Filipe also brings a strong voice to national healthcare policy. Until March 2025, he served as Vice-President of ANADIAL– National Association of Dialysis Centres. He is an active contributor to both the Portuguese Transplantation Society (Sociedade Portuguesa de Transplantação – SPT) and the Portuguese Nephrology Society (Sociedade Portuguesa Nefrologia), particularly in the areas of national registration and policy development in renal health. In parallel, he lectures at the University of Beira Interior, where he combines academic teaching with the clinical training for trainee doctors. Dr Rui Filipe’s extensive experience and commitment to excellence in patient care will be fundamental in the performance of his new duties.
